Course Description: This course targets licensed healthcare professionals and other healthcare workers who expect to provide care to Spanish-speaking populations.

The main objective is to develop the abilities to take a basic medical history from and perform a physical examination on Spanish-speaking patients. The course also familiarizes participants with standard Health Ministry formularies, Mexican pharmaceuticals, the interpretation of common diagnostic tests used in Mexico, and the healthcare system and practice of medicine in Latin America.

In addition, participants will immerse themselves in Latin American Culture, so as to develop cultural sensitivity to the Latino population in the United States and elsewhere.

The course design includes two hours of small group instruction and five to six hours of clinical Spanish immersion in a hospital each day, five days per week.
